Helping the Hurting

ATLAS connects clients to mentors who have been through a similar difficulty in life and have continued down a road of growing. Many of these relationships develop into life-long friendships.

Equipping Believers

Mentors are trained Christians living in the community who walk with those who are hurting and growing. Support is offered to mentors as they work with clients.

CLIENT TESTIMONIES

"Meeting and spending time with an ATLAS mentor was a life-changing experience. I came to ATLAS with a 30+ year problem of feeling hurt, rejected, misunderstood, and alone. I had not shared these feelings with anyone. Through one of the staff-mentor's tender, caring, and loving demeanor and wise counsel, I began to deal with these questions and reevaluate my relationship to my husband. There were many sessions when I knew that the Holy Spirit was directing our conversations. This was a large part of the healing process."

"I have been a Christian for years and yet I felt like I was drowning because of things going on in my life.  I have a son who has mental illness and has spent many years in prison. I am currently raising my grandson and my husband's job keeps him on the road instead of at home to help. I have been caught somewhere between tough love and grace, making too many decisions with my heart and not my head. ATLAS is like taking a mini vacation. You can feel the peace when you walk through the door. It is so awesome to have someone to talk to who is not emotionally involved with what you are dealing with. My grandson says that the staff-mentor accepts him just as he is. Thanks to Jesus working through ATLAS, we are healthier than we were a whole year ago."

"I am a mother, wife, sister, daughter, and a child of God.  I have a past of drugs, alcohol, rape, and molestation. So much shame and hurt comes with all of those things, not just for me, but my family. Molestation is so common and also is swept under the rug. Everyone has issues and a past. Atlas truly helped me to love myself, and to see that God loves me. The staff-mentor never judged or looked down on me, despite confessing all the awful things I had done. You have to release all that pain and shame to forgive and heal. All the people at ATLAS know how to walk with you through the tough stuff."
